The filaments in Fusible Polyester yarns are comprised of two different melting temperature polymers in a coaxial, or core-sheath, configuration. The sheath polymer melts at about 100° C less than the core polymer, allowing the tensile properties of the core to remain intact. Thermal bonding is achieved from about 160 through 190° C.
Fusible Polyester yarns can be heat activated to...
- bond fibers together
- seal yarn or fabric interstices
- bond materials together
- laminate film to fabric
- improve fabric ravel and fray resistances
- improve sewn seam performance
- prevent yarn slippage
- seal knots
- weld splices
- mold fabrics
- pleate fabrics
Fusible Polyester is well suited for
- Knitting
- Braiding
- Weaving
- Sewing
- Laminating
- Molding
- Pleating
